Cautions and Interactions Animal studies suggest that antacids, particularly those containing calcium carbonate, may reduce the body's ability to absorb chromium. Chromium supplements may interact with certain diabetes medications such as insulin, metformin, and sulfonylureas. Chromium is an essential mineral found in very low concentrations in the human body. A biologically active form of chromium participates in glucose metabolism by supporting healthy insulin function.
