Astaxanthin 12 provides a pure, concentrated source of astaxanthin - one of Mother Nature's most powerful and protective antioxidant carotenoids. Astaxanthin is derived from aquatic algae and is responsible for the rich reddish-pink color observed in many marine species, including salmon, crab, lobster, shrimp, krill and even the flamingo, whose diet is abundant in astaxanthin-producing algae. Astaxanthin can be found in fish and shellfish that consume astaxanthin-rich organisms; however, its most pure and abundant source is the microalgae Haematococcus pluvialis, which is the natural source used to make this product.
