General Statements: All Other Content
Macular degeneration is a leading cause of vision loss in the United States. It destroys the delicate cells in the central part of the retina known as the macula, which is the part of the eye that provides the central vision that we need for reading and seeing details. While there is no cure for Macular Degeneration, the landmark age related eye disease studies (AREDS and AREDS2) and other research has shown that high doses of certain vitamins and minerals are beneficial for macular health.
