The female strobiles (fruit) of Hops, or Hop (Humulus lupulus L.), used in brewing beer and in traditional medicine, provide lupulin, which contains a bitter acid complex (2-Methyl-3-butonol, humulone, lumulone, lupulone and valeronic acid) and a volatile oil complex (humulene, myrcene, B-carophyllene and farnescene.) This extract is standardized at 5.2% alpha bitter acid and 4% flavonoids.
