Milk Thistle is a purple flower that grows wild in the Mediterranean but is also found in other areas of the world. The seeds of the dried milk thistle flower are used. Milk Thistle Extract is standardized to 80% silymarin, the key constituent that exerts a protective effect against substances potentially harmful to the liver. Silymarin is a powerful antioxidant shown to protect liver cells (and other cells in the body and brain) from toxins. Research shows that Silymarin promotes liver protein synthesis and proper glutathione function.
